Important Notice: Blocking SMS with Prohibited Content

Dear Users,

Starting from September 1, 2024, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has enforced a new directive requiring the blocking of SMS containing prohibited content, including messages with hyperlinks, requests for personal information, and callback numbers. This measure is aimed at protecting users from the growing threat of SMS-based scams, where criminals impersonate legitimate entities to defraud unsuspecting victims.

Previously, on February 14, 2023, MCMC issued a directive for telecommunications service providers to immediately block SMS with prohibited content. Although exemptions were initially made for essential services, allowing enterprise SMS to include URLs or personal information, these exemptions no longer apply under the updated directive effective from September 1.

This directive applies to both local and international Person-to-Person (P2P) SMS and Application-to-Person (A2P)/Enterprise SMS. It remains in effect even when users are abroad or using roaming services.

If users insist on sending SMS containing prohibited content, the system will automatically block or take appropriate action, and any resulting loss will be the user's responsibility.

重要公告：关于阻止含有违规内容的短信

尊敬的用户，

自2024年9月1日起，马来西亚通讯及多媒体委员会（MCMC）已开始执行一项新的指令，要求屏蔽包含违规内容的短信（SMS），包括带有超链接、请求个人信息以及回拨号码的短信。此措施旨在保护用户免受日益增加的短信诈骗风险，防止犯罪分子冒充合法机构实施欺诈。

此前，MCMC已在2023年2月14日发布声明，要求电信服务提供商立即屏蔽含有违规内容的SMS。尽管当时对一些必要的服务提供了豁免，允许包含URL或个人信息的企业短信发送，但此豁免在9月1日的最新规定中已不再适用。

该指令适用于本地及国际的个人对个人（P2P）短信和应用对个人（A2P）/企业短信。即使用户处于国外或使用漫游服务，该指令仍然有效。

如果用户执意发送违规短信的内容，系统将自动屏蔽或采取相应措施，因而产生的任何损失由用户自行承担。
